Early native and American settlers inhabited the
area prior to the first land grant being awarded
in 1824 to J. Lockwood. From 1824 to 1916 about
nine area families used the rich land for
farming. This area was originally part of Royal
Oak Township. In 1926, the community was
incorporated as the Village of Huntington Woods
and named after the town of Huntingdon in
Cambridgeshire County, England. As the Village
grew and expanded it was incorporated as the
city of Huntington Woods in 1932. The city
continues to flourish due to the hometown
atmosphere.

easy! Located on W 11 Mile Road and just west of
North Woodward Avenue, residents have a short 17
mile commute via I-75 into the Detroit area.
