The Royal Oak train station, built in 1834, provided residents with reliable transportation from Detroit into Ferndale and Royal Oak. Ferndale was incorporated as a village in 1918 and became a city in 1927. Today the city continues to grow as people look for a more suburban, family-friendly lifestyle.


Getting around the city of Ferndale and the metro Detroit area is no problem! Located on E 9 Mile Road and North Woodward Avenue, Ferndale residents have easy access to I-75 so Detroit is just a short 8 mile drive away.
